Alex Glinka

Divisional VP, Strategic Innovation & Data Science at Sears

Alex leads the strategic innovation division at Sears Canada and Initium Commerce Lab. Since joining in 2016, he built new discipline teams for prototype development, data science, and business model innovation.

Prior to joining Sears Canada, Alex led creative technology and R&D teams at Isobar and FCB working with brands such as LEGO, Mondelez, and HBC. In his teens, he had his first taste of launching a startup. While not quite a unicorn, this experience shaped his career. In 2004 he was instrumental to the founding of Medworxx, a healthcare startup which exited in 2015. That year he cofounded LifeNode, a hackathon finalist spinoff.

Today, Alex brings a relentless innovation mentality to his role at Sears Canada and fosters a likeminded team culture drawn upon insights from across industries, the startup ecosystem, and academic research communities. His focus is on new growth strategies including products & services, business models, markets, and partnerships.
